Symposium on the occasion of the exhibition Lina Bo Bardi:Together at Architekturzentrum Wien.
The precedence of Lina Bo Bardi’s work as an architect is the entrypoint in which the symposium addresses cultural spaces allowing for emancipatory education and the expression of difference and heterogeneity. The speakers of “Educating Spaces” address timely issues of critical architectural, artistic and educational practice for contemporary multi-ethnic societies in global transition.

Lina Bo Bardi: Together Seminar
This seminar was held in the ICA cinema on 10 November 2012.
The Italian architect Lina Bo Bardi moved to Brazil, the country she made her home, in 1946 at the age of 31. Her extraordinary legacy as an architect, set designer, editor, illustrator, furniture designer and curator has yet to be fully acknowledged. This seminar is a unique opportunity to learn about Bo Bardi’s work from Brazilian experts in her areas of work, and from the architects who worked with her.

Cultural Connections: The Art Centre in Brazil and the UK

Jude Kelly and Danilo Santos de Miranda discuss the role of the arts centre in cultural life in the UK and Brazil.
Jude Kelly is Artistic Director of Southbank Centre and Danilo Santos de Miranda is the Director of Serviço Social do Comércio in Sao Paolo state. Together they discuss access, ambition, international programming and the partnerships they are building around the world.
The discussion is chaired by Graham Sheffield, Director of Arts for the British Council.
The event is part of ‘Lina Bo Bardi - Together’, which pays tribute to the architect Lina Bo Bardi’s capacity to engage with every facet of culture and to see the potential in people.
